NHS Activity

Reading through this topic... there has been some very stupid replies to some rather nice suggestions.

I would like to personally thank everyone for their suggestions here, and I can see the logic behind most of them.

I am going to begin a plan to restructure the NHS, and will bring it up at the next GP meeting.

I will agree that the NHS has become over-complicated in certain areas, simply because I was changing a lot of things over the past few months to try to increase member retention rate.

The biggest issue we have right now is having updates implemented into the server, I could rewrite a lot of things and change the entire structure (and some plans have already been made)... but getting changes implemented is impossible right now.

A lot of the branches implemented right now are only structured the way they are because there is no way for us to have anything new added, so we recycle what we already have. The ideas behind branches would work well, if we had the specialist equipment we originally planned to add. In their current state, however... it's a lot of effort for little reward.

I'll review the joining / promotion process first... as that's what's causing some issues right now. If anyone has ideas on increasing member retention past MD without requiring game updates, just let me know. As it stands, MD = SUR = DR basically.

If anyone wants to assist with the plans for changes, or give more ideas privately, just message me on TS.

Thanks,

CMO Marc
Perfect response Marc, rather then defend it's current state to the hilt you phrased it acknowledging the mistakes and what you plan to do.

Well done.

I'm gonna be honest sort out the blacklisting and kicking - ive heard things some daft things about this

In addition to this set up some fun activity's to promote the NHS and also introduce some civilian training adverts maybe! :)

Maybe do a recruitment drive like the APD did? With old members and stuff? Pretty sure it will pay off and help increasing the numbers.

Look guys the reason we kick people is because if you cant be bothered to log in more than once a month as nhs or cant be bothered to come to the meetings (which your informed about when you first join) then why should we be bothered to keep you in. Its not a right to be in the nhs its a privilege you earn and have to keep showing you deserve it because a lot of people invest so much time and effort into it that its not fair to people who do for someone who cant be assed to be a part of that group they worked so hard to get in and stay in. End of story. Now this stuff has been looked into and the rules have been relaxed in the past and it didnt end well so we made them strict and it has worked far better for us. Now this post inst meant to be aggressive in any way so sorry if someone takes it that way.
God please... So is this how it's working better? Can't you clearly see that it's indeed not working by the activity on team speak in the NHS server channel's? Clearly something is wrong that the activity is nearly 0 other than the regular people.

Blacklisting during interviews for any reason is 1 month pending appeal. Commonly done for lying about any details to avoid any kind of restrictions. Nobody should be acting like that in interviews, if you have names, let me know in PM.

Activities ideas are in progress, but event suggestions are always welcome, just let me know if you have anything that's easy to set up.

It's a possibility. Currently, I've toned down the requirements for FA, so we're getting a lot more students being promoted at meetings which will hopefully assist with activity.

The thing that Marc summed up very well but many fail to realise is that we are basically tied down until the framework is complete. The devs are putting a lot of work into improving the server but on the NHS side of things we cannot make a single change without them changing it in the mission file etc.

For this reason, all feedback is appreciated but we cannot act upon any of it for a month or so. The GPs / CMOs will be discussing what we are going to change but as it stands we are simply attempting to work with old assets in the best way we can.

Any further ideas / questions are most welcome and I'm sure Marc or any of the NHS staff will get back to you if necessary

Also, I think any SPC+ in the Police force should be given an instant invite into NHS with little or no effort an have the rank of First Aider. If they've gotten to SPC rank, then they clearly know the server, enough that they could easily do the job of a First Aider with about 5 minutes of orientation.
I like this idea, would like it even more if it worked both ways. SPC can join NHS as FA, and MD can join police as PCSO for example. Although, police job is a bit more difficult. Would need some thinking, but this could work quite well as a recruitment strategy for both factions.

I would apply for NHS if this was introduced, even though I'm a PC at the moment. I wouldn't however want to voluntary put myself through CSO/=STU type stuff again.

easier on the kick system, i was a medic but then didnt patrol for like a month and got kicked out..
Well there's the problem. You were marked as inactive. The police follows a similar principle I believe.

Well 'within' there used to be a lot's of MTO's which interviewed with speed and you used to wait shorter. Now you have to wait for a SMTO GP or CMO only. Cant really understand why MTO's have been removed which there were a lot's of them. And i took my interview when lionel was the CMO it was brilliant and fast. I left because of the attitude of some people within the NHS.
Around this time last year, MTOs did interviews too. Since MTO stands for Medical Training Officer, so it made more sens for them to train people in game. As a result, MTOs were promoted to GP, and new MTOs for in game training were introduced.

Haven't read through this whole thread yet, but a few things to say:

 New recruitment drive.

Secondly, at the moment there is little difference between MD, SUR and DR, and it is something we have been working on and trying to sort out for a while. Suggestions would be appreciated too.

In regards to Hatch Sports, Helis etc:

The police have training tests which need to be completed in order to use these things, so why shouldn't the NHS? We don't want people going around crashing all the time either...

Here is my 2 cents, coming from a GP:

  • STU to FA takes too long. Relies too much on being online when CMOs can see you/recommendations. System needs an overhaul of some kind.
I think that we should use some kind of STU>FA test - like CSO to PCSO, where it's just a short in game test, conducted by MTO+, and you can take it after a day or two.

  • The interview process is necessary. The number of frankly terrible interviews I have had to conduct is way too high to remove the process entirely.
Nothing further to say really. Interview needs a few questions switching up - random question scripts are currently being worked on by @CMO Marc Smith as far as I know. Also make some internal NHS rules public so more people pass.

  • There are not enough privileges for MD > SUR > DR. This results in people giving up and not pushing to climb any further.
100% true. Personally I think drop the current RIR and make sport available to SUR+. DRs perhaps get a fancy uniform/vehicle/medical marijuana or something.

  • Branches are a pain.
Yes they are. IMO, RIR should instead be a priority on sport hatch (1 per server, RIR get priority). AR is needed to fly a heli though. Too many crashes otherwise. Also remove written test. Unnecessary hurdle.

  • Add more shit.
SoonTM. When the #framework comes, we'll be adding at least three more helicopters, psychologists who will have access to restraints and some kind of tazer-esque immobilizer, and tactical responders who will work closely with the Police in live gunfights. Plus Coastguard will return as more sea related accidents happen with what the framework adds. I also hope to see more interesting tools/roleplay items such as hydraulic cutters and medical marijuana.

See? We have ideas and want to make it better!

Love, GP Salty Vampire.

lol of course it does, what is the point in kicking people if you dont have enough players..?
Sorry, I phrased it wrong in my last reply.

I mean, the police also remove people for inactivity. Why shouldn't we?

Isn't it better to have ACTIVE players than just a fuck ton of players?

Do you guys not realise how bad of a situation the medics are in?
You guys should practically be begging people to join the NHS right now.

I was debating about whether to go full on rant about the NHS, but frankly, the attitudes of the some of the higher ranking NHS really gives me the impression that they need to realise who and what they are...

The NHS are basically, a MINOR addition to the Altis Life mod.
Why on earth do the NHS seem to have this impression that they are the almighty organisation that is just as important as the police?

"The police kick inactive members, so should we".
"The police have specialised units, so should we".
"The police have a large structured organisation, so should we".

Honestly now? How important are the medics in this mod?

What would this mod be like without the police? It's just be wasteland with a little bit of RP wouldn't it?
I'd rate the importance of the police at about 9/10... This mod just wouldn't be the same without them, strong gangs would just dominate, no-one would be a civilian because it just wouldn't be worth it.

Okay... so we've set the bar now.

What would this mod be like without the NHS? Ummm... I'm pretty sure it'd continue on without anyone really caring too much.
Maybe someone would say "Oh, it would be nice to be revived right now.." and that's about it.
And to be frank, the server slots recently have been just about the same as the NHS not existing at all (not a dig at those who recently have actually played as medics recently, you guys are the real MVP's and frankly, this whole rant is about allowing more people to play as a medic more easily).

So this all brings me down to my main point...

Who on earth do you guys in the NHS high ranks think you are?!?

So far this topic has been filled from the higher-ups with "The NHS are fine as they are..." and this one really got to me... " Its not a right to be in the NHS its a privilege". This is the attitude of the NHS command that seem completely unaware of how poorly they are performing in the community right now.

The NHS are not a big deal.
The NHS could be completely removed from the server will little effect on the overall morale on the community.

It's the NHS command who should be privileged to have so many people playing with the NHS. You should be wanting as many people to join the NHS as possible. But you guys seem to have too much pride. So much so that you don't even realise how insignificant you guys are as an organisation to the server.

The rant comes off quite odd, because as you can see, I'm incredibly passionate about the NHS on the server. I've always had good RP and sometimes absolutely fantastic RP. Remembering one time after a bank job I had field brain surgery performed by 3 students and afterwards I ended up speaking only German.

I love the NHS. I think they're a fantastic addition to the server, but it really boils my blood when I see so much potential just being wasted due to pride and especially arrogance.

If the NHS higher ups could truly realise what they are, and what their worth is, and do everything in their power to make sure that as many medic slots are filled as possible, whilst maintaining a balance of good RP requirements and enjoyment from those being a medic, frankly, I would be ecstatic.

To finally close this rant off, I can only say that the response from most of the NHS higher ups has been overwhelmingly disappointing.
I feel that most of you have just become too comfortable in your positions and are just going through the motions to try and keep a decrepit machine from breaking completely.

True change is driven through innovation, insight and most of all conviction. None of which I've seen from the NHS higher ups in this post. I personally fear for the future of the NHS, as they might one day be seen as nothing more than superfluous than actually beneficial to the server as a whole.

I'll add a bit of rant eventhough it'll be dwarfed by the post above

When I first joined this server I loved being in the NHS, it's the first thing I joined and it's where I learned to RP and I made it all the way to surgeon. That being said at that time you could fly and drive whatever you wanted whenever. Making it easier and faster to get to people.

One of my main issues with meeting medics these days is that they somehow seem to dictate RP. 5 officers down and no matter what you say they insist on reviving 1 person and then rp-ing with that person for 30 min. Leaving the others just lying there. PLEASE stabilise your patients first, we could do so much more RP then.

And wtf is up with medics going around in teams of 4-5? How is that effective? I'm sure a student can survive on his own knowing he can ask for back up from a higher up thats elsewhere on the map. That would decrease so much frustration from players who've been waiting to get a revive for ages. I'm sure they'll be more inclined to RP if they don't have to wait so long.

This.

As someone who tried to join the NHS a year ago (I was accepted as a STU but got horribly bored when I was waiting for higher ups to take me on patrol) I stopped bothering and went on to do other stuff until eventually going inactive. Let the students do some stuff, they got through the interview process so surely they have some sort of knowledge? Yes they might need more learning or they might make some mistakes however one bad student compared to seven blossoming upcoming RP'ers isn't going to tarnish the excellent reputation that the NHS has acquired. It's too much work to get into the NHS which is why there's very few of them active at any point.

Cheers,

Students will never be able to go around on their own just like cso's and pcos are not allowed to do so. However we will look into changing the time you need to be a Stu before you can get to FA. Maybe some sort of short test like cso to pcso.

Allow the police of a certain rank to join NHS as rank above STU with an interview or something and I'm sure you'd get some interest. Cross recruiting is easy and the police joining protocols weed out the majority of weak RP and power gamers, I.e most of your work is done for you.

As CMO. Marc stated earlier we are considering this however this needs to be discussed with the police command. Anyways thank you for trying to help us :)

I havent read everthing becouse i dont really want to read 4 page..

The thing that sucked the most that when you Finley get your freedome as a FA is that your still stuck to a slow vehicle. The Truckboxer or the Hatchback.

When they get FA let them drive! Give them atleast a SUV. If people start abusing them then kick them. Works with the police as well..

STU going with a FA with the correct score..  its taking to long. If someone is FA he is promoted on hes skills. So let them take STU as well.

MD = 1 brench..  SUR = 2..  DR = 3..

Oke.. that works with the police verry well. So why not NHS :)

Well they have 30 slots.. and are most of the time filled. NHS has 10 slots and if 2 are filled its awsome!

If a medic wants to fly and wants to drive the sport. Give him them the training they need and let them go.

The CMO's of the NHS need to relice they dont have the numbers to put restriction on everthing.

You want someone not screw around. Ask known members to keep a eye out. Report things that are going rong. Or come out those higher channels and patrol yourself :) its why you joined in the firstplase :D

When i was GP the most i did was looking if no one did anthing 'rong' after that i picktup as many STU as i could and hit the roads.

Last time i saw a SUR+ on patrol.. ?

* SUV for FA

* Any STU patrol with FA

* All GP & CMO patrol 2 times a week? Give a good example.

* SPC+ become FA sounds great!

* Welcome back old NHS members if they want to come back. Dont give them a hard time. You need the members :)

Sorry if it seems im assulting anyone.. its not my goal to do that. This is only what i think about it :D

Shalloa.
