Arriving in Kavala after a long flight on a tiny plane Trever is bone-weary and looking for nothing more than a cup of tea and a relatively comfortable bed.  Pulling the rental car into the motel he gets a room and has to settle for microwaved hot water and a tea bag.  He settles in and flips on the TV to check the local news, finding the usual BBC broadcast full of banners, ads, stock readouts, and the droning evasion of a highly paid, comfortable newscaster who had probably not seen anything more stressful than a traffic jam.  He flicked off the TV in disgust and threw the remote on the bedside table.  The tea was as awful as the news and he set that aside to.

Moving to the small window he pulled back the ugly drapes to look out over the center of Kavala, active even in the middle of the night.  The homeless problem, of which he was now a part, seemed as bad as one might expect on an island protectorate well outside the social benefits the UK.  Not that he wanted anything to do with a handout himself.  He'd come to the island to get away from all the bullshit, but the problem in Kavala was worse than most, especially when the gunshots rang out across the block.  Several shots, then screams, but few sirens.  It was certainly going to be an interesting time.

In the morning Trever planned to get out and buy some new clothes, something he didn't have to worry about getting dirty.  Starting an independent paper didn't pay well and he'd need a 'real job' to keep himself fed.

Trever managed to scrape enough together to pick up some new clothes with press markings, an investment in future endeavors.  He headed first to the police station, and was of course accosted on the street and robbed of what little cash he had in his pocket.  Once can't really expect safety at night just a couple of blocks from the police station can they?  He made it to Kavala's police HQ and had a chat with PC Drevijn about the previous night's shootings in Kavala square.  Having his answers he headed to Kavala Square to get some food, and set his notes down in a better format.

On arriving there he saw a helicopter crash in progress and tried to warn away people passing by, but a few got too close and burned.  He called police and NHS, and police responded, pulling victims from the wreckage and reviving those they could.  There were some pedestrians that were hit by another police unit when it arrived on scene, but everyone was tended to by the officers.  After a long night and a quick meal he returned to his motel room to get some sleep.

The next day was spent making trips between the orchard and the market, doing his best to scrape together some cash.  The homeless in the area were a constant nuisance, one attempting to break into his truck, another trying to sell drugs and others wanting to buy guns.  It was a productive day, but a clear display of how law enforcement could do a better job keeping citizens safe in Kavala.
