Whats the current plan for it ? media center, dedi?

Latest big purchase for us was 16gb ram and GTX 760, and funnily enough, as I type this DPD are saying they have delivered it, but although my wife is at home nothing was delivered!!
Called scan they confirmed that somebody signed for it.
Wife double checked outside, it was on the rubbish bin no paperwork in sight! near on £300 worth of computer parts, the driver is popping back today to resolve the issue ..... :/

Going to use it to replace my Synology NAS so it'll be doing File Server, Network Backup, Gonna stick PLEX on it for streaming and make it available through SSL VPN if I can. Maybe run a gameserver or two if the CPU is up to it :s

Yikes! Reminds me of when i ordered a whole PC in parts and it came in two huge boxes, the courier tried carrying both at once down the drive and he dropped one and my face just fell.

"Oh sorry mate, it's nothing expensive i hope?"

"Only about 1200 quid of components mate.."

"oh shit.. Do you want to open it and check its ok? If not just dont sign for it"

*open dropped box*

"Just the case, lucky you didnt drop the other one!"

Ohhhh ... That would make me cringe too !!!!
Although I make people cringe by completley not giving a shit about electrostatic protection when building computers. Never had one break on me yet so still not going to worry ;)

in my more cavalier attitude when i was younger I drilled out a hole in a case whilst it was running to fit a new soundcard. Not sure why I didnt turn it off, there was a reason though. Lots of little metal shavings flying about !!! and computer just carried on !

Major cringe. You know i'm mostly the same with static. Never broken anything yet and i man-handle it all.

Metal shavings though - that's just sick :p

I swear to got there was a reason it couldn't be turned off. I think it was processing a shit load of VST data, and we needed to get it all fitted & rebooted before we left.

Potentially alcohol was involved but couldn't be certain as I was at work(ish).
