    Today is a sad day. My Draytek Vigor 2850n vdsl firewall just crapped out on me :(

    It's white casing, aged beige in the sun. It's now stuck in an infinite reboot loop :( Any suggestions to rescue? Be sad to throw away a £200 router :(

    Im probably going to get a fritzbox3490 when I move to Zen as they have a good deal on right now. have you had any interaction with that one ?

    Not had any interaction but heard they're great routers, very feature rich. Only ever used the DrayTeks as we have them in work and that's where i got these two from as spares. More options than you can shake a stick at, though i was reading the latest Fritzbox has better home-user features than the latest draytek, better wireless performance etc.

    So rumor has it that Intel have been fraternizing with the enemy and we might see Intel CPU/AMD GPU based processors in some applications in the future. Thoughts?

    I was able to get on forbes with ABP!

    I've yet to use a screen with freesync/g-sync. Having an nvidia card i'm in a g-sync camp but it really pushes the cost of the screen up. Been looking at a nice 1440p AOC for about £200 though.

    It would be interesting, though i can see competition authorities not allowing it as it would somewhat eliminate choice in the market. Not that it's exactly a diverse market anyway.

    Also hearing that intel are shitting it at Ryzen and planning a Kaby Lake refresh soon.

    Only time will tell with Ryzen & I still think that Intel have something waiting in the wings to sweep the rug out from under AMD, would be a shame but understandable.

    Regarding the Intel / AMD deal, there is just to much market share and money involved for AMD to pass on the deal, ontop of that they will still have a advantage that their chips are designed in house hand in hand so it would be doubtful to see intel outperforming AMD. hence why Intel may not want to go down that route anyway. Worst case scenario Intel is lining up for a merger in the next 10-20 years :/

    That is major kek. I'd say slap it up ye, you AMD fanboy, but as a 4th gen Intel owner, I too would be disappointed at being locked out of some zombie game for a quarter if i'd purchased it.

    That said - this isn't intel's doing, it's the developer. They worked alongside intel, but it's ultimately the developers choice to locked it out based on CPU model.

    It still takes 2 to tango. Intel do have the blinkers on when it comes to anti-trust though.

    When the intel-man approaches you in an alley and says "want some platform exclusivity son?" you just say NO! And go tell an adult :)

    Anti-trust legislation is a bit strange though, I'm not sure why Apple have never been the subject of an Trust or Competition investigation á la MS bundling IE within europe, but Apple can bundle Safari, you can only use their OS on their hardware instead of your own, etc. etc.

    Remember robocopy even has a GUI these days. It's the Best GUI ever - all the switches listed with sweet FA in the way of description of labels. It's a masterpiece.

    Fuck that, I'm not tidying this mess up. It just sucks when having to apply user permissions as then each ACL object has to be applied to each folder and file, rather than just stick them in a group where it's already been done and be done with it. #NoScalability

    heheheh, they have their uses :) but generally unless your getting the double deep depth rads its kinda pointless as they are as effective as a good aircooled system.

    There is no need to change your channel there is nothing wrong with your set.

    Haha so it happened already. Someone from office facilities went into the server room in another office, was doing something on the access control system, managed to lockdown all the doors, including the comms room and they have it read in/read out. They're locked in. SO MANY LOLS.

    @FriendlyFireGuyAccess control systems using ID badges to lock/unlock doors.

    @lionel We had a right good laugh about it in IT when the other facilities staff called us to see if we (bearing in mind we're hundreds of miles away) could let them out, or find someone who could. It got even funnier when they said they might have to use the 'break glass' release and we hoped a little bit there was Halon or something equally fun installed there. It's also apparently the 3rd time they've put the building into lockdown.

    This is why non-IT personnel should:

    a) not be given access to the comms room

    b) should not be in charge of such a critical control system.
