Ok, the forum bans are getting ridiculous now. I've always hated those dictator jokes people made about this place, but it's starting to seem like not such a joke the past few weeks.

Speaking from experience and not about any thread in particular. Majority of the time when a handful of people decide to post silly things or stuff that are completely irrelevant to the topic of the thread it will cause it to get out of hand or even off track which then results in the thread being locked. Don't know about you but when I need to read through something I would rather it be on topic instead of going through multiple comments of "same" or "That's shit" etc. Hope that answers your question @Bob Wilkinson

Kind of. But surely it’d be better to just hide them & give warning points as appropriate as suggestion posts do? Rather than dismiss the entire discussion and lock the thread as we’ve seen recently. Just gives off the impression that the slightest excuse is used to stop the talking

Can't comment on recent ones as personally haven't seen them due to being rather busy with work however you would be surprised with the amount of stuff that actually gets hidden before the lock happens. Remember everyone in the staff team are volunteers and can't always monitor stuff 24/7 so that they can stay unlocked.

Community members still interested in Altis- please read this suggestion and provide any opinions you may have. It's been under review for a few days so it's not had a chance to be displayed as a new post, so I need to give it a bump some other way.

Note of appreciation for @sciencefreak74for being at the BTEC community meeting (props to @Maxim for that name) and listening to everyone's ideas, and there were some good ones I think. Regardless of whether we're able to save the server or not, it was very heart warming to see so many people come together of their own accord to try to save something that brings them no financial or ulterior gain, but just because they care.

And there I was thinking we'd moved past the days of locking constructive threads.

It's fine saying 'play it or lose it,' but no one wants to play it if its dead all the time. It shouldn't be a chore. Management lost interest in Altis ages ago. It's lovely to see people planning to band together with or without Management to try to think of solutions, but honestly I can't see it coming back from this. The surge in numbers was due to lockdown. We have (hopefully) seen the last lockdown, which means there won't be another surge in numbers, which means the plug will be pulled sooner rather than later.

My only suggestion at this point is when the time comes to pull the plug, why not hold onto it for one month longer with one crucial difference: complete wipe. Probably won't help, but it might. If it comes to the point where the plug is being pulled, there's no harm in trying it for a month, just to see if it makes a difference. Either way everyone's going to lose years of work.

What do you expect, it's been like that for years you can't say your mind without being banned or forum restricted lmao

You heard a personal opinion not a post by management, Infact management have not had a serious discussion about closing the server its all Chinese whispers and hear say as per usual with some people!

No more talking is required, play the server or closure will become a consideration

Apparently I've been here for 6 years today (I got the trophy although my join date isn't until 24th, but fuck it it's close enough) 🥳 This place has changed a lot since the glorious Marmitey days of yore, but it has been my sanctuary during some difficult times and for that it will forever hold a very dear place in my heart.
