Right. For those of you who were present during the encounter, taking place on the 6th of December 2014, lasting from approximately 2230 - 0245 UTC, can skip the next part.

For the rest of you, here's a summary:

The kidnapping of SPC Connall.

Four UNMC members, Blaze, The Shadow, zaF & Shepred, were flying a Hummingbird heading west of Athira. We found a lonely SPC driving around a black Offroad, and took him captive. Initially the SPC, who's identity was later revealed as a "SPC Connall" from Athira, was taken to the Chop Shop, on the northern tip of the UNMC territory.

Once we had greeted, made some jokes, and threatened him indirectly, we moved onto our demands. We are slightly odd, and aren't really looking for making more money - therefore we wanted a message sent. The message is as follows:

My name is Senior Police Constable Connall, stationed in Athira. I am currently being held by the United Nonconformist Military Core at a location that shall remain undisclosed for now. I am well, and have not been harmed. They have requested me to forward these demands to you:

We are the United Nonconformist Military Core, otherwise known as the UNMC. We currently have Senior Police Constable Connall held hostage. We want a public message, sent to all available cellphones on the island Altis. We want the message to say the following:

Dear citizens of Altis, the UNMC is pledging for you attention. We have begun our invasion into the main land of Altis, and shall liberate you in due time. We ask each and every one of you to please, remain patient while we work through day and night to drive this fascist government from these lands.

Viva La Revolution!

We gave SPC Connall a radio device, and requested he tuned to the HF frequency, and then instructed him to initiate dictation. Once this was done, we removed the radio. The police force of Altis was, naturally, not interested in airing such a message - which resulted in a whole lot of stalling. We eventually gave them a timeframe of 10 minutes, as we realize it can be difficult finding someone with the ability to send such a message, otherwise known as an "Admin Message".

While the clock was ticking (I actually had a stopwatch ticking on my desk), we flew SPC Connall to an island down south, as we expected the police to invade our lands.

Unfortunately at this point, our negotiator had to leave - so we were forced to message the general police, once more, and once more not recieve a reply. Despite having one of the SPC's hostage.

And right we were! Not soon afterwards, "Channel Seven News" aired a message, saying the police force was moving into northeast with full force. We figured this must have been a mistake, as we had a police officer hostage, and surely, they wouldn't want him harmed!

We were wrong. This was not a mistake.

Following an extended period of time, of five minutes, another admin message was broadcasted, saying that any armed suspect inside the lands of The United Nonconformist Military Core would be shot on sight by the police. In other words, martial law.

At this point, it was clear to us, that the police was not interested in negotiating for SPC Connall's life. In the light of this, we set about persuading him to join our cause, as we genuantly didn't want to kill the poor guy. We gave him two options.

Option 1: Get a cement block strapped to your ankles, and be dumped in the ocean.

Option 2: Join the UNMC for this battle, and retaliate the police force, who disregarded your life.

SPC Connall, wise as he was, chose option 2. We proceeded to kit up SPC Connall.

If you were present, begin your reading here.

After kitting up SPC Connall to assist us, we proceeded to approach our checkpoint from the south. But somehow the police force got their Hunters, Armed Offroads and what not through, without the use, of what is meant to be the only gate through.

The police force had magically managed to remove a piece of "The Wall".

Let me remind you, at this point we are 4 UNMC members + SPC Connall. We flew over our Check Point, and found nothing. Then we proceeded to our base, and.. waow. Numerous Hunters, Armed Offroads, .50 cals, a total of ~22 Police Officers and ~8 PLF members.

We proceed to drop people off, inclduing SPC Connall. Meanwhile, I begin making my way to the airfield, as we require the Soul Grinder. The Shadow, Blaze, zaF and SPC Connall attempted to take shots on the base, but failed, due to a massive overweight of opposing force. Eventually the decision was made to let SPC Connall return to the police, out of fear of him attempting to shoot us.

I'll round SPC Connall off here:

Extremely well played. You handled the situation really well, and I really cannot praise your efforts in the situation enough.

Onwards.

Meanwhile all of this was happening, I was trying to clear our airspace, as we were fairly certain backup was being funneled through air vehicles. Seeing as there were three Hummingbirds, and only one of me, I was unsuccessful.

As the Soul Grinder proved useless, I stored it and proceed on ground. We made a continuous effort to drive the police and PLF from our lands, and eventually they backed out.

Now, time to conclude, and you will all see the meaning of this post.

I've got a couple of key points, that I would really like a proper answer to.

  1. I seem to recall a certain event, otherwise labelled by CSI Neo as a "Black Event" in Athira, lead by a SPC Aaron. This event included working with rebels, to contain a crowd in Athira. The consequence of this was SPC Aaron eventually being suspended from the police. Today we see Commander Maratek condoning this behaviour, a long with a lot of other, very, very high ranking police officers. Why, how and will there be a consequence?
  2. We have been accused of many things, by many people. Once again I seem to recall a quote from CSI Neo, stating: "I have been going out on a limb to roleplay with the UNMC." Now. We're trying to roleplay with you, giving the police extra time to respond to our demands. Instead you have complete disregard of a life, and invade our lands instead, in what I assume is just meant to be one massive provocation? Where's the #RPEverything that I see so often?
  3. Where is the fairness? You are clearly aware that it is late, and that we are not manned to a point, where it would be a fair fight. Why, oh why, waste everyone's time attacking 4 people with that many units? It is literally beyond me.
Now, I do apologize for the long post. However, I am looking for a proper discussion here, NOT a shit tonne of GIF posts. Yes, I am talking to you Starsky, Bob, Reverend, Mitch and so on. They are funny, I'll be the first one to admit, but I do not want them here.

Furthermore: If you do not have anything related to say, stay away.

I apologize for any spelling errors, but it is very late - and my eyes are sore.

Not even going to lie. I don't want to post gifs on this situation currently. This situation is going to cause a massive shit storm, especially the current PLF vs UNMC. Don't know what to say about the cop thing, it's a bit dumb, don't know why they would team up, there was already enough members online and attacking at 1:30AM seems pretty shitty to me.

Thanks Starsky.

Nothing to do with it like, but that was a good post. read it all.

dissapointed but not unexpected is my feelings on the matter i just wish people would at least try and engage in role play instead of mass invasion call of duty style battles. We really tried to role play tonight and our demands were just a message be broadcast to the citizens of altis i mean we didnt even kill the hostage when the police invaded our territory we sent him back to his friends. What the hell has happened to this server when people would rather all out warfare rather than roleplay

Okay, Answer me this, what was the point in effectively sending a message which looks like you are declaring war on the police force? because to me it really looks like you guys are just salty because we outnumbered you. Every damn time i've been a part of one of these operations we've been met with countless crying from you lot because you seem to think you are untouchable. roleplaying with you guys is like roleplaying with an uncooperative brick wall, As soon as i think i've found a bit of fun in it, i've been stealthily reported in the forums, and it's just starting to piss me, and i would imagine a lot of the police off Despite atleast one unmc member breaking atleast one rule per visit, but sure that's probably the police's fault too eh!

But i digress, what i would like to know is what you hoped to achieve initially by taking connal hostage, as you did state above you wanted no money. he sent the message, why keep him?

I just want to put forward that you took someone hostage at that time, so suggesting that it was too late for a retaliation i think is a little unfair. I do understand that a life was at stake and it could appear that we didn't care about the officers life but this wasn't the case. When you were asking PC Bloodbound for the message to be sent, he did respond with the fact that we cannot as police officers get access to the phone numbers of all residents of Altis, but you proceeded with a timer anyway. Not to mention we did end up with our officer back to us as your people realised you were out numbered at which point we were happy that the mission was almost over we just needed to evacuate the area. Then realising we still had armed men around the area approaching Ciaran made sure the perimeter was secure to which he found The Shadow and proceeded to kill him. ALSO less than 6 minutes later spawned into the base and killed one Commander Maratek and one SGT Voltz. Again i see your point with PLF and I can't give you an answer for it as I am only an SPC and didn't give any kind of authority of it.

Would the message declare war on the police force? No.

Would the message bring RP, instead of the usual 100-300k output? Yes.

Would the police lose anything from airing the message? No.

Would we gain anything from the message being aired? No, probably not. We wanted it aired, as it's something I personally have been working on for a while, and we figured it would be a good twist to the otherwise so tedious hostage negotiation.

I can only speak for myself for the rest of the post, here goes:

I do not believe I am untouchable, and many events have shown that I am far from it. I have a past in the police, and I wish to keep a neutral ground with them - therefore I usually never complain on the forums, or in general. This time I was genuinely pissed off, though - I guess that answers your "bitching" part.

Now onto the whole "brick wall" part. We sent countless of messages to all of the police, asking them over and over to send us a new negotiator, following the swift departure of SPC BloodBound. We received nothing, nada - zero.

As for us breaking at least one rule per visit: You are generalising. Sure, we may have had screw ups - just like everyone else does. Again, I can only speak myself. I avoid moaning, but this time I felt it was necessary to voice my opinion.

And why keep Connall? That's a really good question. We figured it would give some leeway with the cops, when they saw we still had him, and that maybe we could use him as a last ace up our sleeve. That never became relevant though, therefore he was let go eventually.

I just want to put forward that you took someone hostage at that time, so suggesting that it was too late for a retaliation i think is a little unfair. Saying you do not have access to a list of all the numbers is stalling, and thus we decided to put further pressure on you, so we wouldn't find guns pointing to our backs, the minute you figured out our location. It's what anyone would do.

We appreciate that a SPC cannot air such a message, but at the same time he should have made contact with a superior and have resolved the situation.

------

The demands that we set were not unreasonable, I've seen it done before, and I will do everything I can for it to happen for us eventually. I am still awaiting some answers to the questions I put out, and can only assume you are formulating your answers.

"We have begun our invasion into the main land of Altis, and shall liberate you in due time. We ask each and every one of you to please, remain patient while we work through day and night to drive this fascist government from these lands."

^^ Would suggest that a war is about to ensue. Also just because we are hired by the government doesn't mean we would have any Ties with them to meet such a demand.

I am guessing by the lack of response to the matter of time this happened has been made irrelevant?

Right let me say one thing. Did you gain anything from this post other than another forums war? NO! because that's all that seems to get posted lately on these forums and its getting stupid now. This is a game no matter what and we are here to have fun and have the occasional gun fight, not to whine about everything that happens in game.

This thread saddens me beyond comprehension. I am seeing people who are my friends and in some cases, friends with each other too, argue with each other over something which I think could be been avoidable. I get it the UNMC are a force to be reckoned with and yes they can be nothing but a pain in our asses at times, but at the end of the day if the number of cops that attended is correct I am also disappointed in the Police force. I will always state my belief that unless it is a server wide event nothing requires the attention of the entire police force. Disregarding everything to do with numbers and ensuring things are fair look at it from this perspective, if every cop or near enough every cop attended this situation think how many civs and potentially new players where left with no cops to roleplay with, and at the end of the day are we not here to all take advantage and enjoy that magical experience.

If it has finally come to the point of my friends arguing amongst each other over things which are quite easily avoidable then maybe it is finally time for me to move on from this community, something which I would most definitely do not want to do. For Christ sake people get your fucking acts together.

if all you wanted to know was why where the police pontentially collaborating with a rebel gang then I honnestly feel you wasted your time with a pointlessly long post that has seemed to have inspired a shouting match on here.

Surely your main question could be cleared up quickly by a senior officer involved without all this shit surrounding it.

1. On what grounds were the police working with PLF during this operation?

2. Was this permitted?

3. If not what is going to happen?

Now most of these questions can be answered ourselves easily

1. I wasn't there so wouldn't be able to tell you

2. From what I've gathered maratek was involved and as cooperation with any rebel group is a police rule and not a server rule I would feel he would be perfectly within his rights to allow such a thing.

3. I imagine not....

I feel that the UNMC wanting all these rules surrounding interactions with them is beyond a joke. You get your base same rules as police hq, fair enough not a problem. But on all other counts I feel you should be treated no differently to any other group. As you know from your previous career these priority calls as it where, hostage ops and bank jobs, receive a high level of interest from the police either saving one of their own or protecting the treasury... How plf got involved I do not know. But if it's a suitable time for you to take someone hostage I do not feel you as a group are in any place to complain about retaliation from the police force, before we venture into your area are we suppose to look how many of you are online? Personally I'd call that meta gaming. And I can't quote this as I'm on my phone, but you tabbed out and complain when people suddenly appear in your base, but this is a role play game, as far as I'm concerned there's no way to role play that. As you said you were writing a post I really think you should leave the game, atleast go back to the lobby and the spawn select screen.

I feel a lot of these problems would be removed if the unmc had an active core with the man power to do something meaningful, at the moment you've barely got enough to man your beloved checkpoint...

It's not about starting a shit storm.

This post is one of the "calmest" ones regarding an issue on the Server that I have ever read so far.

No insults. Just explaining what happened and asking to debate it. Not to shit on each other.

So please god keep provoking comments like this away. Thanks.

I am taking no sides here. I like the Police, the UNMC and PLF.

I have a high opinion of the Leaders of each group and their members.

We all have our shiny moments and we ALL have moments where our actions could have been BETTER.

Anyways.

I was not there when this took place so I can only comment on what I have heard/read.

A lot of people struggle with the UNMC and what they are doing ..

What they often forget is that we are an liberation army and not a group of ordinary "criminals".

( If you think doing drugs is a crime - touché -  but thats just an opinion and for me not really a criminal action )

Of course we seek for a different kind of RP if we take a hostage than just always asking for money.

People could have understood our message as starting a war - IF THEY WANT TO.

And I think that is the case .. people only see what they want to see.

And of course this will be enough for them to take action just like the police this day.

I don't wanna complain about this - I am a former FPS Game Player & I am always happy for a nice gunfight.

But this is not COD, BF4 or CS:GO.

This is a RP Server. I think the attack would have been 100% legit if the Police would have just give the UNMC some RP before.

I just wanna make an example that just took place yesterday:

Bob & Me were in Kavala yesterday getting drunk and having a bit of fun.

"Fun" for us was searching for some derpy Roleplay as we pretend to be "Hillary (Bob) & Roger (Me)".

Some of the Kavala Cops actually played along with us and it was really funny. No one was harmed. Kudos to those Officers!

( Yes, Cops are actually really awesome at RP!)

Anyways. As we ran arround we saw a Cop arresting someone who was dealing drugs.

We may pretended to be Siblings but we still were Bob and Minxx and I don't like to see someone getting arrested for doing his hard work as a drug smuggler. So I got my Gun out told the Cop in my most charming voice to put his hands on his head and told him that I AM going to REMOVE Phone, GPS & everything. And there is no discussion for me RP wise. If I say I removed it ALL then I removed it ALL. So I went on telling the Civilian he can leave and explaining the Cop while I am holding my gun at his face. At this moment I had NO intention to kill him. There was no need for it. I was not interested in slaughtering a Cop but in "freeing" the Civ.

But then this cheeky little man made a big mistake asking me if I really removed his phone saying that Cops are on their way.

You can see this as RP to make me nervouse yeah but I think it was really poor. So I did what I thought was best: I told him that if this is the case hes too much of a danger for me to keep him alive and executed him.

Afterwards Bob and Me put our guns away and left the scene. As I said we had no intentions of killing someone.

Seconds later I recieve a message of Neo saying that Cops complain about us "killing" people in Kavala.

I explained to him how it really was but because I have a high opinion of Neo and I know that he just wanted to avoid a shitstorm I stated that I will grab Bob & leave the area.

I don't think I have to explain why I gave this example. It speaks for itself. I don't wanna blame the police because as I said there are alot of GREAT people in there with awesome RP and attitudes.

eugh.. so much reading... Will be available on Teamspeak throughout the day.

Right, sorry - bit confused about this one..

8 PLF members?

Myself

Dagre

Mrpat

Fearghal

Later, I believe FrostBite joined in.

Why should the police not be able to work with rebels? You clearly think of the UNMC as a higher force, as something more than just a rebel group with unique clothes and vehicles, if you do truely believe you're more than just any other rebel gang on this server then I would have expected much more from a group that one moment with black list an entire gang for laying waste to you at a bank and the next you forgive and forget that black list when confronted by a bigger force who means to do you harm.

I did notice, by the way - that you did not mention the Gc who were manning your checkpoint. Might as well start giving them striders next, they're more active than the UNMC.

I must say, despite being taken hostage that was a fairly eventful and enjoyable time. Also thank you Shepred and the other UNMC members for the great RP whilst I was with them.

UNMC == Army

Police == Police Force

PLF == Rebel Group.

Right, a Police Force never attempts to attack a army without some help. Therefore PLF was allowed to join. The issue of you not having enough people is your own fault. You would not stop a hostage situation because there were less than five officers online would you?

Maybe its time Sovereign looks through the applications and selects a new batch of members to fix this problem of understaffing.

The police are actively trying to get their land back. If you did not want wars like this you would not of become a military group and taken the part of the island. It is not like we are going to have a nice little chat and all of a sudden the land is back into our possession is it?

Also, whenever there is a problem with the police there is something magical called 'Teamspeak'. This magical program allows you to broadcast your voice to other people! Wow! Police use it to deal with problems by talking to people. To my dismay you appear to constantly turn the forum into a war/drama fest/bitchfest.
