A housing storage Question

I was simply wondering how the outplacement of storage boxes work exactly. My experience so far with these heavy ass boxes isn't that great

As i tried to ''Use'' My storage box (On the second floor of my house) the box didn't spawn where my point of look where focusing. The box spawned a floor below, on the first floor. In the middle of my house. 

My question is, is there any way of controlling the outplacement of these storage tools?

No there is not. Theres pre determined locations for all storage boxes, sorry for busting the bubble but thats just how the code is written.
