no, you dont need anything. what you do is you run arma with keys/ addons. make sure you disable addons before you join.

are you talking about the altis? if its altis, you dont need modpacks or anything. just launch vanilla

if you use autohover, the helicopter will go to the location you activated the autohover. It's good to use wasd+q/e keys to maintain a small stability.  you can stop it from going backwards by enabling and disabling the autohover so you reset the starting position. also have in mind the rotor...
